A moment turned into a day, a week, a month and now a year. A moment when you can lose everything, houses ruined, families separated, lost hope making room for despair, fear and sadness. This is the cruel reality of the people of Ukraine.

Olga (false name in order to preserve confidentiality) fled from eastern Ukraine from the beginning of the war while holding a severely disabled child who was screaming at every alarm or bomb explosion. She hardly reached Romania and established in Braila.
“The little one needs to keep going on with the recovery” Olga said with tears in her eyes. She went to doctors who reevaluated and gave a new diagnosis but things stopped here as for free recovery exercises they needed to wait a couple more months and she didn’t have the money for private help. The doctors suggested a verticalizer, a device which would help the kid strengthen his muscles in order to be able to walk. Unfortunately this was also too expensive for a woman who managed to live only from savings. So just like that, pretious time is passing quickly and so does the hope that she will ever see her child walk or do normal things by himself.

We wanted to help and we saw an opportunity when our partners decided to finance a project for helping refugees with certain problems as the disabled, the sick, the elderly or single women. Due to this initiative, little T. and other people received devices that offered them the chance of a better life.

When we gave the verticalizer to Olga, she couldn’t believe it. She cried while helping her kid into the device and it was the first tine for little T. when he was able to stand without his mom’s support. Only by actioning some buttons he learned to change his own position and walked alone in the house. A table attached to the verticalizer allowed him to play with toys that made him extremely happy. Not only was this a recovery device but it also meant hope of the first steps in a cruel world stamperred by kindness.

This is the tragical story of much more men, women, families that lived in the terrible reality of the war in Ukraine but chose not to let this be their ending.

We cannot solve all problems addressed to us, but what we can do is bring together the ones that want to do good
