This summer, for many of our children, meant their very first real camp experience. Not just an ordinary holiday, but an adventure filled with laughter, discovery, and friendships that blossomed naturally—between hikes, campfires, and songs under the sky.

Children from Galați, Pechea, Slobozia Conachi, and Izvoarele, young Ukrainian children for whom laughter and play need no translation, every child lived a summer story worth sharing.

In the heart of nature, they ran barefoot through the grass, played games, and laughed without a care. They searched for hidden treasures with maps they drew themselves, battled imaginary pirates, and learned that the most valuable treasure of all is friendship. They discovered courage, embraced teamwork, and realized they are capable of more than they ever believed.

Each day began with joy and ended with cheers and little celebrations – “Camp Unicorn,” “Best Chef,” “The Heart of the Camp.” Every child, every adult, felt seen, appreciated, and important.

95 children made unforgettable memories at camp this summer!

The camp was also a space for healing. For some children, those affected by floods or coming from families facing hardship, these days were more than just a break from reality. They were a breath of hope.

“Maybe we’ll come again next year… somehow… with the Foundation,” whispered a little boy, eyes filled with tears.

At the final gathering in the camp courtyard, as children proudly received their certificates, we realized it wasn’t just the children who had changed. We had changed too, those of us who watched them rediscover joy through play, freedom in nature, and the quiet beauty of simply being a child.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who made this experience possible: the Center for Disaster Philanthropy, Heart of a Child UK, our generous donors and partners – those who, like us, believe that every child deserves a summer that lights up their soul.
