As we are aware, every summer, “Heart of a Child” organizes camps for Romanian children facing difficult situations.
This year, we had the joy of hosting mixed camps for the second time, where both Romanian and Ukrainian children participated. Our campsite, affectionately dubbed “Our Heavenly Corner”, nestled in Năruja (Vrancea County), embodied peace, self-discovery, and a journey that united souls. A total of 161 people were part of this experience, divided into 5 camps throughout July.
We opened our hearts through compassionate embraces, liberating discussions, self-development activities, and a connection with the beauty that enveloped us. Amidst nature’s embrace and genuine companionship, the children unearthed the inner strength to overcome challenges and uncover their true selves, along with the capacity and desire to dream.
Unlike the city’s harsh sun, the gentle sun here; the murmur of the river in the background; the lush green fields; the morning dew gracing the grass; and the birds’ melodies harmonized beautifully with the children’s joyful voices during hikes, games, water play, attempts at swimming in the river and crafting performances at the end of each camp day. In the midst of it all, smiles adorned the faces of children, young adults, and even adults, each embracing the courage to anticipate the future.
Children and young adults from villages where we have programs, children from low-income families, children, young adults, and Ukrainian mothers have gained together yet another summer of unforgettable memories!
Children and young adults from villages where our programs are active, as well as those from low-income families, along with children, young adults, and Ukrainian mothers, have collectively amassed yet another summer brimming with indelible memories.
All of these wonders have been precious to our hearts and to the children’s hearts as well – both for the bigger and for the smaller ones. We have reconnected with simplicity and the souls found their healing. We weren’t at a 5-star hotel, but we were in a place that was of greater value to us due to its beauty and peace.
