Did you know that more than 750 hot meals are served every month to children taking part in Heart of a Child Foundation’s educational programs?
For us, education is about more than homework, lessons and activities. Children also need their basic needs to be met so they can learn, focus and grow. A hot lunch is part of the support we strive to provide every day.
A Hot Meal Is Part of Our Daily Care
Children come to our centers for educational support, homework help, activities and opportunities to socialize. For refugee children, our centers are also places where they can learn Romanian and gradually adapt to life in a new community.
As part of this daily routine, lunchtime is an important moment. It provides nourishment, but also an opportunity to sit together and spend time in a safe and welcoming environment.
Every month, more than 750 hot meals are served to Romanian and Ukrainian refugee children at our centers.
Support That Helps Us Continue
Providing these meals every day is also possible thanks to partners who have chosen to support the practical, everyday needs of children.
We are grateful to Center for Disaster Philanthropy, which is funding meals for refugee children attending our programs for a period of six months.
We also thank Galați City Hall, which, through funding provided under Romanian Law No. 34/1998, covers the cost of lunches for Romanian children attending our Day Center in Galați.
More Than a Meal
For an educational program to make a lasting difference, we need to look at the whole child and their needs. Education, nutrition, safety and a sense of belonging all go hand in hand.
That is why a hot meal remains an important part of the support we provide to children attending our centers.
More than 750 meals every month mean more than 750 moments when a child can sit down to eat and then continue their day learning, playing and spending time with others.
Thank you to our partners for helping us make this possible.
