At just one year old, every new movement and every small achievement can be an important step in a child’s development.
Evelyn’s parents noticed early on that her motor development seemed to be progressing more slowly than expected. Concerned, they sought medical advice from several doctors. They were reassured that some children simply develop at a different pace and were advised to giveher more time.
But as the months passed, her parents continued to look for ways to support their daughter. That is when they learned about the Heart of a Child Foundation’s Therapy Centre.
Finding the Right Support
When Evelyn first came to our Centre, at one year old, she was not yet able to sit independently.
Following an initial assessment, she began physical therapy, with exercises adapted to her age, abilities and individual needs.
And the progress soon became visible.
After just a few weeks of therapy, Evelyn was able to sit independently. She can now support herself on her hands and knees and is beginning to crawl.
For a child working to develop essential motor skills, achievements like these are important milestones — and for her parents, each new movement brings encouragement and hope.
Every Small Step Matters
Evelyn’s story also reminds us how important it is for parents to have access to specialized support when they have concerns about their child’s development.
At our Therapy Centre for Children with Disabilities, our specialists work with children who experience developmental difficulties, providing therapies tailored to their individual needs and abilities.
For Evelyn, the journey has only just begun. We will continue to work alongside her and her family, one milestone at a time.
Because sometimes, what looks like a small step is actually a very big achievement.
